I believe people in their 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond are capable of living far more vibrant, energetic, lean, and meaningful lives than most have been led to believe.

Not perfectly.
Not obsessively.
And not by spending the rest of their lives dieting.

Just because the years are moving forward does not mean your energy, strength, confidence, mobility, or joy have to quietly disappear with them.

But for many good people… they do.

Not because they’re lazy.
Not because they don’t care.
And usually not because of age alone.

They drift.

Life gets busy.
Stress piles up.
Health becomes reactive instead of intentional.
The habits that once kept them strong slowly fade into the background.

And over time, people who once felt active, capable, athletic, adventurous, and alive begin feeling heavier, stiffer, foggier, more tired, and less connected to themselves.

I’ve spent nearly my entire adult life helping people reconnect to that stronger version of themselves again.

Not through rigid dieting.
Not through shame.
Not through extremes.

But through simple structure, whole foods, smarter daily habits, movement, accountability, and learning how to live healthy in real life.

That is The BodySmartWay.

For more than 28 years, I’ve worked with men and women who want more from this stage of life. Many are former athletes, active adults, professionals, business owners, educators, parents, and grandparents who still have a strong spirit inside them and know they are not done living fully.

They want to hike.
Travel.
Play tennis and pickleball.
Walk cities all day.
Keep up with grandchildren.
Feel confident in their clothes again.
Wake up energized.
Feel proud of themselves again.

And they want to do it without turning health into a full-time job.

The BodySmartWay is built around that idea.

I help clients lose weight, improve strength and energy, create healthier habits, simplify eating, and build lives that support long-term health instead of constantly fighting against it.

This work is deeply personal to me.

I grew up near Cleveland, Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie in the town of Lorain. Sports, movement, and challenge were always part of my life. I loved long-distance running for the physical and mental challenge it brought. These days, tennis is still one of my favorite ways to stay active and connected to life.

Over the years, I’ve worked as:

  • a health and physical education teacher
  • a certified personal trainer
  • a certified wellness coach
  • a health writer and columnist
  • a speaker and group coach
  • and a wellness partner alongside physicians helping patients improve their health through lifestyle change

I’ve written for Old City Life Magazine and the Jacksonville Times-Union, partnered with physicians and health professionals, and coached hundreds of people toward healthier, leaner, stronger lives.

But honestly, titles are not the important part.

The important part is this:

I truly believe people become happier when they feel stronger, healthier, lighter, more capable, and more connected to themselves again.

Not because life becomes perfect.
But because they begin living more fully again.

That’s what I love helping people do.

This is not about chasing youth.

It’s about fully living the years you are in.

And in many ways… I believe these years can become some of the very best ones yet.

My philosophy is simple: Healthy Living is not just about looking good. It’s about feeling good in mind, body, and spirit.

Becoming a more thoughtful and effective coach requires delving into the nuances of who I am and who I want to become as I head into my mid to late 60s. But this is where the real magic begins for all of us.

When implemented with the right support and accountability, it’s the glue that brings stickiness to a real lifestyle change where we no longer fight to eat this way, move this way, or be this way.

When we combine the concrete building blocks of smart habit change, a structured path to get us to where we’re going, along with the right foods and mindset, we will thrive. And not just in the weight loss department but also the excellent health department.

The bottom line is that there are no guarantees of staving off disease, but if we live in who we are, we may let the chips fall where they may and be at peace, living with joy and less worry. That’s our freedom. It’s our place of peace and contentment, allowing us to be fully alive and enjoy our lives.

Every person in Live Healthy has unique strengths and areas of improvement. My approach is tailored to accentuate those strengths while addressing and refining the areas that offer room for enhancement. It’s about cultivating a mindset that thrives in all areas of their lives, especially where food, people, and enjoyment come together.

It’s about keeping the pleasure of food while being able to fail your way to success as you pick up the necessary distinctions in all the areas of your life, from not just cooking and staying at home, but to eating out, going on holiday, graduations, weddings, family/friend gathering, baptisms, birthdays and so much more. It’s how we live and thoroughly enjoy food in all the capacities of our lives while getting to an optimal weight and then maintaining it, which is fundamental to the Live Healthy Way.

My philosophy is anchored in holistic growth and consistency of habits. I aim to bridge the gap between the traits my members exemplify in their personal lives and the occasional disconnect they experience while developing the skills to lead healthier, lean, strong, fit, active lives once again.

I strive to ensure they channel these qualities to achieve weight loss success. Through my program, I aim to elevate the individual, aligning their inherent discipline, which may feel lost at the time, with their healthy living goals.
