Kim asked me to write about my journey so far. I’ve been with Live Healthy for 14 weeks now and have lost 37 pounds. During that time, I had two pain crises that forced me to miss exercise for a while. But once those were resolved, I got right back to moving almost every day.
I really believe that sticking to Kim’s keystone habits and our phone chats has made all the difference. Even when things weren’t perfect, those habits kept me grounded and moving forward.
My husband and I also took a three-week trip, traveling through several states and visiting family. At our first stop, there wasn’t much support for what I was doing, but I stayed focused. We were in the beautiful Colorado mountains, so I walked, shopped for my own groceries, and kept up my water routine.
Our next stop was a cabin in the mountains with a couple of my sisters. Before the trip, I asked them to join me in following the plan for that week. We shopped together, I picked out meals from Kim’s menu, and we all enjoyed it. I ended up losing 8 pounds during our three-week trip—and my sisters lost a few pounds, too!
With Kim’s encouragement, I found myself saying something over and over:
“I can do what I make up my mind to do.”
Every day, that’s what it comes down to. Even when I’m out with friends or traveling, I have to make up my mind to stay on the plan. For the first time, I’ve found consistency—and it’s working.
I still have about 42 pounds to go, so I’m continuing in the Immersion Phase. With Kim’s help, I’ve added a few new menu items to see how they work for me, and so far so good.
I’m also lucky to have a husband who fully supports me—though we do have to find ways to keep him from losing weight since he’s already thin!
Travel is possible. Eating out is possible. Visiting friends is possible—even if it means bringing a salad along. My advice: make up your mind, even when it’s hard. Every day, I remind myself to do what’s right for my body and my health.
So, I’m excited to keep getting stronger and healthier. I’m enjoying the food, I feel good, and I’m grateful for this process. I wish all of you the best in your own journey. When you hit obstacles, take a moment to figure out what works for you. And remember, even if things aren’t perfect, just get right back in the saddle.
